Sana and Kabir met at a college debate and have been arguing happily ever since. When they asked us to photograph their wedding in Udaipur, they had one request: make it feel like us.
Day one — mehndi by the water
The mehndi was held in a courtyard that caught the afternoon light off the lake. Aunts sang, cousins danced and Sana’s grandmother took over the dhol at least twice.
Day two — the sangeet
Months of secret rehearsals came together in a night that ended with the entire wedding party in the lake-side garden at five in the morning, still dancing.
Day three — the pheras
Quiet, slow and full of tears. We kept our distance and let the ceremony be theirs.
We wanted it to feel like us — loud, emotional and a little bit chaotic.
