How to plan a wedding day timeline that leaves room for real moments

The secret to relaxed, honest photographs isn’t a better photographer — it’s a kinder schedule. Here is how we plan days that breathe.

The most common thing couples tell us after their wedding is that the day went by in a blur. It almost always does — but the right timeline can slow it down just enough for you to actually be in it.

Start with the light, not the list

Before we look at a single ritual, we look at when the sun sets at your venue. Portraits in the last hour of daylight feel completely different to portraits at noon, and building the day around that hour changes everything that follows.

Add twenty minutes to everything

Getting ready always runs long. The baraat always arrives late. Build in buffers and you’ll never feel rushed — and neither will the people photographing you.

A relaxed schedule is the single best investment you can make in your photographs.

Protect a few quiet minutes

We always ask for ten minutes alone with the two of you after the ceremony. No family, no planners, just a walk. It’s often where the most honest photographs of the entire day are made.

If you’re planning now and want help thinking it through, write to us — we’re always happy to look over a timeline.
